Pesticides on Produce Leave Residue of Worry
Scientists increasingly suspect unknown environmental causes may explain the rise in certain types of cancer, and a 1993 report by the Environmental Working Group concluded that the average American child, by age 5, has accumulated 35 percent of the federally permitted lifetime exposure to captan and similar percentages of the allowed 70-year exposures to other carcinogenic pesticides. Federal regulators concede that current standards for amounts of pesticides on produce are out of date, and they are now working to revise them. Consumers, fearful of all the unknowns about pesticides, are driving a healthy $3.5 billion organic food industry.

New Releases in our Bookstore
For years, women thought they had only two choices for menopause: avoid taking synthetic hormones altogether and suffer the occasionally debilitating effects of menopause, ranging from bone loss to sleeplessness, or accept a prescription for Premarin and Provera and with it an increased risk of some cancers. But, as the groundbreaking new book, Natural Woman, Natural Menopause proves, there is a better, safer, more effective way. Authors Marcus Laux, N.D., a leading expert on natural medicine, and Christine Conrad, a patient herself who experienced the unpleasant side effects of synthetic hormones, cut through the confusion and misinformation and show women that they can take natural, plant-derived hormones, which match their own hormones exactly, without any known side effects or cancer risks, and which are readible available by doctor’s prescription in a pill or cream form.
