Continuing our Wellness Journey - Finding Meaning
This week our journey focuses on the power of FINDING MEANING, the 11th of 12 keys to wellness drawn from the Wellness Inventory whole person assessment program. Finding meaning appears to be a unique human need. It is one of the most complex uses of energy in that it involves almost all of
the previous energy forms. Since the beginning of time philosophers have asked these basic questions: Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I going? What do I want? What is real? What is true? This section encourages you to find a deeper meaning in your life that can provide a powerful focus for directing your life-energy. View more

Peak Vitality - "Taking Energetic Self-Responsibility"
If we want to grow in vitality, then we must learn to take energetic self-responsibility. This means recognizing that certain emotions we habitually choose to run through our system - our emotional diet - deplete our resources, and ultimately lead to increased cortisol (the "stress" hormone) and decreased DHEA (a prohormone important to immunity and the stress response). It is not about denying the depleting emotions, or stuffing them away. It is about being honest with ourselves, recognizing our own experiences, and starting to look beneath the surface, then learning how to shift and replace those depleting attitudes and emotions with those that renew and regenerate our system.
Rollin McCraty, chief researcher at Heart Math, reveals how we can take charge of our emotional energies before they take charge of us! Learn more by purchasing a copy of "Peak Vitality: Raising the Threshold of Abundance in Our material, Spiritual and Emotional Lives." now available in our online bookstore. The Apo E Gene Diet - Pamela McDonald
Do you know your Apo E geneotype? Do you know why it's important? Researchers have discovered that the Apo E gene regulates the way your body transports fats and cholesterol, affecting not just weight but also the heart and vascular system, and influencing our patterns of inflammation--one of the key factors in many serious diseases.
The Apo E Gene Diet is not a traditional diet; instead of taking a one-size-fits-all approach, it supports each individual's unique genetic recipe with the correct matching nutrition. We now know that different genotypes need a different balance of carbohydrate, fat, and protein. This breakthrough book outlines the latest information so you can make appropriate nutritional decisions based on your specific Apo E genotype. Mind/Body Health - "Halting Time Pressure" - David Sobel, MD
Time pressure can have powerful effects on the body. Our brain regards clocks, deadlines, and interrupted schedules as a threat, and calls up the "fight or flight" stress response, notes David Sobel, M.D. in ""Halting Time Pressure.". The incessant struggle to do more and more in less and less time also makes us more likely to respond with toxic anger to anyone or anything slowing us down. We feel we're not accomplishing what we should and self esteem plummets. We feel exhausted and overwhelmed all the time, denying ourselves the satisfaction of a job well done. Personal relationships suffer. We don't have time for the real conversations and intimacy that help buffer stress and increase our resistance to disease. Because of the added tension and worry about getting things done, we may lose sleep. We slip into bad habits, eating too much or too little or relying on junk food. We avoid exercise, light up a cigarette or turn to alcohol, caffeine, or pills to rev up or calm down.
